About being 67
March 27th I will be 67 years old. It is a number… it is a reality of my life…
My teeth are good, my hair is good, my health is good. I am so grateful for my life, yet I am sad… I don’t know why. I am not depressed but sad. I have been reading wonderful books, listening to beautiful music. I have a nice fire, warm light, a comfortable chair, and the need to write these few lines. I am no longer friends with the camera. I need to take a photo for my pass port…it is hard for me to believe what I see… It is not the image that reflects back to me in my mirrors. I see everything in my that is not pleasing… The camera seems to capture all my ugly qualities… When did I become a monster…? I cannot hide behind makeup.. which I seldom wear anyway… What is it about a camera that transforms a once beautiful flower into a wilted, withered, mess. I must come to terms with this beast…. and accept the photo if I plan to travel in October. Where is the holy woman that my soul reflects.. maybe this transformation is in actuality a gift… and maybe it is a visual curse… hahahah what a package…
